3D Modeling

back

Site visits are necessary, but you don’t always have the best as-built drawings to rely on during project execution. You can choose to extend the site visit and do a manual survey.

Or you can use lasers!

What Is 3D Laser Scanning?

3D Laser Scanning is non-destructive technology that digitally captures the shape of physical objects using a line of laser light. 3D laser scanners create highly accurate “point clouds” of data from the surface of an object with fine details. 3D laser scanning is ideally suited to the measurement and inspection of complex geometries which require massive amounts of data for their accurate description and where doing this is impractical with the use of traditional measurement methods or a touch probe.

Risk Mitigation For Project Integration

Digitization of your factory provides a complete digital representation of the operation to be used for feasibility studies, engineering, prefabrication, and assembly processes.

The creation of the 3D model (DWG, DGN, etc.) which can be used for design, detecting collisions, can also be used to create VR simulations inside the factory.

Investing in 3D modeling allows you to:

  • Lower Overall Risk
  • Reduce Rework
  • Decrease Project Costs
  • Capture Existing Conditions in High Resolution
  • Fewer Physical Site Visits
